3 Ingredient Recipes: Irish Soda Bread Recipe

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! This St. Paddy’s Day, we are making a traditional Irish recipe that’s simple to make, delicious, and only 3 ingredients. Soda bread doesn’t use yeast, it uses baking soda to get its rise and buttermilk to get a delicious scent and a delightful tang. It’s so good, you’ll want to make it every day, not just on the holidays.

Irish Soda Bread
Ingredients
3 1/3 cups flour
1 3/4 cups buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda

Mix all ingredients together in a bowl until a dough forms. Lightly knead on a floured surface until all stickiness is gone, but do not over-knead. Cut a cross in the top and place on a floured baking sheet or a baking stone.
Bake at 450F for 15 minutes, then reduce heat to 400F and bake an additional 30 minutes or until done. Cool on a wire rack and serve.
We’re here every Thursday with another 3 ingredient recipe.
